The person behind Stoner Singles
Cassidy Locke, Founder of Stoner Singles
Built the site she would have wanted as a user, after a decade of dating badly on apps that treated cannabis as either an in-joke or a deal-breaker.
Why Stoner Singles exists
Cassidy started Stoner Singles in 2019 after years of dating as a regular cannabis user on mainstream apps and getting it wrong. Two things at the same time pushed her into building: dating profiles where "420-friendly" was either an in-joke or a deal-breaker, and mainstream apps that buried any cannabis-use filter behind a paywall.
She started building what she would have wanted as a user. A place where cannabis compatibility was the table-stakes filter, not the deal-maker. Somewhere you can be honest about your use from day one and skip the awkward disclosure phase.
"The value of the brand is being the unboring place where you don't have to explain yourself."
Cassidy Locke, on the seven-year mark
Background
Cassidy had been writing about cannabis policy and culture for a decade before she built the platform, mostly in the US legal-state press, with occasional cross-coverage of the UK medical reform conversation. The cross-border angle is part of why Stoner Singles ships in both markets from day one rather than being a US-only product retrofitted to the UK.
The view from seven years in
Her view of the niche, after seven years of running the platform: the audience is more middle-aged than the marketing assumes, retention is higher than industry benchmarks, and the addressable space is wider than competitors think.
She doesn't write a regular column. The /founder page is the canonical place for her voice on the brand. Commissioned pieces from named journalists and the in-house writer team carry the rest of the blog.
What you will not see her do
- Front a stoner-influencer persona. No "blazed with Cassidy" content.
- Make medical claims about cannabis. That work goes to specialist contributors with citations.
- Use the founder page as a platform for personal politics. The brand is dating, not advocacy.
